Alistair was an agent of the Bureau of Oddities, and former partner to Niles Caulder. He was murdered by Niles in order to keep the Bureau from finding out about Oyewah.
Biography[]
1913 Yukon Mission[]
In 1913, Alistair traveled into the Northern Yukon Territory with Niles Caulder, on a mission for the Bureau of Oddities. Alistair remained armed around their campsite, due to concerns about a group of Turks who had been attacked in the area seven months ago by a mysterious creature. While Niles argued that there was a possibility the creature meant them no harm, Alistair was convinced that it was inherently dangerous.
Later that night, Alistair saved Niles from being killed by a wolf, seemingly at the cost of his own life. Overwhelmed by the wolf, Alistair shouted for Niles to run, and Niles escaped into the forest, leaving his friend for dead.
Unbeknownst to Niles, Alistair survived the encounter with the wolf, though he received a number of permanent facial scars.
Return to the Yukon[]
Alistair went back into the Northern Yukon Territory in 1916, where he found Niles singing in the forest and skinning a deer. Alistair told Niles that he had attended his funeral back home, and asked forgiveness for leaving Niles behind in the Yukon for three years. He informed Niles of World War I, and told him that the Bureau of Oddities had become the Bureau of Normalcy before demanding to be taken to Oyewah.
In order to protect Oyewah from Alistair and the Bureau, Niles led Alistair onto thin ice, where Alistair fell through to the water and drowned.[1]
