Herschel is one of Dorothy Spinner's imaginary friends. He takes the form of a giant spider.
Biography[]
After Dorothy was terrified by a mother rat eating its runt baby, Herschel appeared to defend her, but she was promptly calmed down by her father and Herschel disappeared.[1] He later appeared when Niles knocked on Dorothy's door, making a knock-knock joke.[2]
He, Dorothy, Darling and Danny played hide and seek and in the middle of the game Herschel scared Dorothy which caused Danny to accidentally fall and break in two.[3] Herschel and Dorothy said goodbye before going to sleep and Herschel wishes Dorothy sweet dreams.[4]
When Candlemaker was about to be released at the fair and confront Dorothy, Herschel was transported to the Doom Manor to warn the Niles Caulder's team that Dorothy can no longer contain Candlemaker and the team decided to go rescue her and Herschel told them go fast.[5]

- Phasing: As seen during his game of hide and seek with Dorothy, Herschel possess the ability to phase through solid matter. As seen where he easily walked right through the various walls of Doom Manor to hide from Dorothy and later prank the mansion's other residences by suddenly popping right out of walls.
