"None of us asked for what we got. Only thing that matters is what we do once we got it."
—Roni Evers[src]

Roni Evers is a war veteran and former member of an elite squad operated by Quorum.

Biography[]

Army service and black ops[]

Roni joined the army due to living in poverty.[1] While in the military, she was caught in the explosion of an IED outside of Baghdad, leaving her with scarring on her torso. Not long after this, she was approached by Quorum to work quiet missions for them, enhancing her body in doing so.[2] While part of this squad, Roni committed a number of counts of voluntary manslaughter.[3] After she made a number of big mistakes, Roni's enhancements were stripped from her and she was discharged.[2]

Living in Detroit[]

Relationship with Vic Stone[]

After being discharged, Roni began attending a support group for her PTSD. While sharing one day, Vic Stone showed up to the group late. Roni interrupted her story to call him out for being late, but their moderator asked her to show some compassion. Roni struggled to finish her story, before sitting back down, promptly calling out everyone's reluctance to share due to Cyborg's active eye camera. Later that day Roni was visited at the bar she worked at by Vic, who wished to apologize. After some small talk, he asked her if she wanted to get some food. They went for a bite, before they parted ways. As she left, Roni was stopped by a mugger, who she promptly fended off. Vic had attempted to help, but realized she was fine. He began to call the police, but Roni convinced him not to in the hopes of improving the kid's life.[1]

They met once again during the normal group time, Roni neglecting to inform Vic of the group's change in time. They headed quickly back to Roni's, where they had sex. After sex, Vic started to get a bit intimate, but Roni freaked out and proceeded to get dressed. She admitted that most people didn't like her for long, but Vic promised it wouldn't for them, and they planned another date. Rather than attending the date, however, Roni emailed Vic some classified information, including photos of her prior war crimes, causing him to leave the restaurant while Roni sat outside in a car.[3]

Despite him making this choice, Roni was surprised to see Vic at her door some days later. He apologized for leaving, and the two began to make up. After Vic inquired about her scars, Roni discussed her time in the military, specifically within the black ops squad formed by Quorum, and he reassured her that she was a better person than back then.[2]

The following morning, Vic offered to view Roni's insides in the hopes of easing some of her pain, in return promising to speak about his PTSD. As he inspected her, Vic realized that she had poison from a broken cybernetic attachment leaking into her body, of which Roni was familiar. Vic hacked into the government to find the cybernetics' blueprints, discovering their connection to S.T.A.R. Labs and Caulder Robotics, much to the two's shock.[4]

Scant Invasion[]

Vic took Roni to Doom Manor to find more answers. With Doctor Niles Caulder off-planet, Vic introduced Roni to all of his friends. While there, they all discovered a crate marked "do not open". A pink gas leaked out, causing all but Miranda to begin acting on their impulses, with bad ideas becoming good. Roni and Vic decided that Vic was capable enough to operate on Roni, and after Larry Trainor appeared wearing a doctor's coat, they began to prep. Miranda attempted to caution them that it was a bad idea, but they couldn't understand why. Willoughby Kipling suddenly intervened, explaining via an informational video that they'd been infested by Scants.

They decided to devise a plan to enter the white canvas that had been in the crate, but before Miranda could begin, the rest of them entered the Painting That Ate Danny. In the painting, they came across the Beard Hunter, who was hiding from the Scants, and explained that Mr. Nobody had left the painting.. They were quickly found by Scants, who they believed to be friendly, but instead took them hostage. Hooked up to machines that sucked all of the idyat from them, the Scant Queen gently mocked all of them, but most of the group didn't care and barely noticed. However, they were soon saved by Miranda, who utilized her other personalities to kill the queen and rid them of their psychosis. Traveling back to the mansion, Roni made fun of Vic for having told her he loved her while under the influence of the Scants, before leaving for Detroit, along with a vial of uma jelly extracted from the idyat substance.[5]

Fight with Vic[]

Vic fight against Roni

Roni is confronted by Vic.

Roni took some of the uma jelly, using it to heal her damaged self and enlighten her as to the location of Lucas Decker, the VP of Quorum. She visited him at night and killed him, due to Quorum's prior actions. She ran from the FBI, before meeting up with Vic. He couldn't understand why she'd killed someone in cold blood, and Roni tried to remind him that their relationship had been real, but he gave her the cold shoulder. As she attempted to leave, Vic stopped her, now a criminal. However, she loosed herself from his grip, pushing him across the café before beating him. Before she could do any proper damage he released his pulse cannon, aiming it for her face. Seeing that they'd come to a stalemate, Roni headed for the door. She was met by Rita Farr, dressed as "the Beekeeper", but she pushed past her and went into the night.[6]

    • Superhuman Regeneration: As seen during the events of "Dad Patrol", Roni has seemingly healed her previous injuries and maladies retained from her time in the army and removal of her cybernetics. Having now fully regained full usage of her limp leg and no longer having any issues with her body.
