Steven "Steve" Dayton is a former member of the Doom Patrol known as Mento. After a failed attempt to defeat Mr. Nobody, Dayton and the other members of the Doom Patrol suffered from a mental breakdown and were placed under the care of Joshua Clay.

Powers[]

  • Metahuman physiology: Through unknown means, Steve’s DNA was altered turning him into a metahuman.[1]
    • Telepathy: Steve was able to speak with Rita using only his mind.[1]
      • Mind Reading: Under Niles’ suggestion, Steve was able to read Rita’s thoughts in order to help her take better control of her condition.[1]
      • Mental Scan: Steve was able to search Rita’s memories and discover her darkest secret while she was sleeping however, this was against her knowledge and ended up causing Steve to leave her in disgust.[1]
      • Illusion Creation: He can create complex, realistic illusions psychically. The former Doom Patrol reside in this "fictional reality".[1]

Abilities[]

  • Wealth: Dayton was the 5th richest man in America during the year 1955. He has almost certainly not retained this status.[1]

Equipment[]

  • Psionic Amplifier: While operating as Mento, Dayton wore a helmet that enhanced his natural psychic abilities.[1]
  • Mento suit: Steve has a suit that he used when fighting crime as Mento.[1]

  • In DC comics, Steve Dayton aka Mento, is the sometimes ally, sometimes enemy of the Doom Patrol and a brilliant billionaire who built a telepathic helmet to become a superhero. He joined the Doom Patrol and would go on to marry one of its founding members Elasti-Girl and adopt Beast Boy.
