Doom Patrol Wiki

"These aren't just Butts, they're an entirely new species of creatures that we categorized Gluteus Morticus. Infinitely complex, highly intelligent with deeply engrained social dynamics."
Margaret Yu[src]

Gluteus Morticus, also known as Were-Butts or Butts are mysterious vicious creatures that were captured by the Bureau of Normalcy and imprisoned in the Ant Farm, before the prison break-out, releasing the Butts across the world.

Biography[]

Friendship with Margaret Yu[]

At some point, the Bureau of Normalcy captured several Were-Butts as oddities. In 2016, the Were-Butts were registered as extremely dangerous, murdering any Bureau agent who entered their Ant Farm cell. In 2017, Doctor Margaret Yu was hired by the Bureau to understand the Butts, befriending them because they were amazing, teaching them a love of musicals.

Yu appointed twin Were-Butts, Nicholas and Theodore, who directed a musical for the Bureau's top brass, but upon being disturbed by General Wampus, the Butts attempted to attack him, becoming furious, traumatizing the general. Because of this, the senior members of the Bureau decided to turn the Were-Butts into weapons for their plans, placing Yu in a lower position in her attempt to defend the Butts.

Escape from the Bureau of Normalcy[]

In 2019, a group of metahumans freed the prisoners, including the Were-Butts, who began killing the agents and attacked Darren Jones, who survived. During the break-out, Yu realized what was happening, discovering Nicholas hiding and decided to take him home to keep him safe. Because numerous Butts escaped, the Bureau hired the Butt Hunter to catch them.

Battle against the zombies[]

In 2021, as a consequence of Were-Butts' bites, Darren Jones was cursed to become a butt, causing problems in his family, so he sought revenge against Niles Caulder's patients, kidnapping Niles's head, and gathering more Were-Butts as an ambush. When his enemies arrived with Willoughby Kipling, Darren became a Were-Butt, calling the other creatures to a showdown, but as the patients were turned into feral zombies, the Were-Butts were brutally killed, leaving Darren as a survivor, and turned into a zombie.

Buttpocalypse[]

Possible future[]

In a possible future, the Were-Butts zombie virus spread throughout Cloverton, causing the creatures to destroy the world in an event named "Buttpocalypse", murdering the future Doom Patrol, eating Cliff Steele's brain and destroying the Larry Trainor bandages. When the Doom Patrol of the past confronted future Vic Stone about fleeing into the time machine, several zombies Butts appeared, attacking the team and killing future Vic, while the Doom Patrol escaped back to their present, horrified by their future deaths in the Buttpocalypse.

Pursued by the Doom Patrol[]

Back in 2022, the Doom Patrol targeted the Were-Butts zombies, splitting into two teams, Laura De Mille and Cliff Steele killed Darren, whom they assumed was the cause of the virus, and Vic Stone with Crazy Jane tricked the Butt Hunter into acquiring the last frozen Butt, taking him to the Doom Manor for Cliff to kill him, assuming that the Buttpocalypse would be avoided.

Secretly, Cliff, instead of killing the last Butt, hid him in the refrigerator out of mercy, remembering where he left him thanks to his "Rory" glove, but leaving the door open when he saw Larry Trainor and Rama arrive. With the refrigerator open, the Zombie Butt began to thaw, leaving the manor in search of brains and worrying Cliff when he remembered that he let the Butt escape.
